How do you communicate a vision with an artist that doesn’t speak your language? Hector is a graffiti artist from Guatemala and speaks only Spanish! My entire interaction with him was through a translator! He not only understood the essence of ‘Bread of Life,’ but expressed it in a powerful way. The broken wall was symbolic of the fact that Jesus is not confined to the four walls of the church. He breaks those walls to save people in dark and hidden places where the church typically doesn’t reach. After hearing that, I had goosebumps. I can’t help but feel that Hector’s personal story is weaved into the art he created for me which makes it all the more unique.
